Warren Buffet is Charlie Munger’s friend. He wrote an Almanack about Charlie and their friendship. Charlie was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He liked raising hamsters and also traded them with other children. He had the ability to negociate at a young age. He went to Central High School and earned a varsity letter, regardless of his build, and also became team captain for the rifle team. When 1930 came, the great depression began. Charlie’s family wasn’t heavily affected but he did realize it affected others.

Charlie was also enlisted in the Army Air Corps. While enlisted, he married Nancy Huggins. After being discharged, he wanted to earn a bachelor’s degree. So he applied to Hardvard Law School, and managed to get in. He graduated in 1948 and then moved to Southern California. In 1953, he divorced. His son Teddy was also diagnosed with leukemia, which made Charlie very sad. So his law partner Roy Tolles introduced him to Nancy Borthwick. They were married and became a big family with 8 children.

In 1961, Charlie started property development with Otis Booth. He earned a lot of money from those projects. He also made a law firm with his friends, which was called the Munger, Tolles & Hills. At a dinner party, he met Warren and they realized they had a lot of common ideas.

The Leaving

A. Yes because I thought they were running away. Turns out she just wanted to leave to try and teach Lester a lesson

B. I think they are realistic characters since nothing that happened really seemed off. Especially when the conclusion was that Lester was slowly learning to become a nicer person, because it’s hard to change a person in an instant.

C. Main idea of the story is perhaps to show that you can’t change someone in a instant. Elizabeth was trying to change Lester and make him appreciate her more and think of her as a person not an object.

D. No I haven’t. I think a troubling book is maybe a book that was hard to read.

E. First point perspective. Perhaps to show what Sylvie thinks of what’s happening to give a better understanding of the book.

Reusabox Sale

December 7th, 2019

Today at Merivale Mall took place the JA program selling event. Groups of teenagers who spent the last few months creating a company gathered to sell their product.

Among those groups was Reusabox, a company who created sustainable gift boxes made from used cardboard and wrapping paper or disposed comic books. They sold them for 5 dollars each, including the materials and the production time spent. They also offered a wrapping service for $3.50 plus a donation to Toy Mountain, the charity they chose to sponsor. In total that day, they sold around 15 boxes, and collected around 20 dollars for donations to their charity.

Reusabox was created during the JA program. Ja helps youth like them in highschool to learn about financial literacy, and to become entrepreneurs and work in an environment similar to the real work world.
