Peak 1-50 pages summary

Peak is about the experience of Chip Conley, the CEO of a hotel called Joie De Vivre. His hotel was experiencing what he called a “great depression” due to the dot-com bubble crash, an event where a lot of people lost money in their investments for the internet and technology industry, and 9/11, an terrorist event that caused the lost of trust in airplanes and travel.

Then he learned about Abraham Maslow. Abraham Maslow was an american psychologist who wrote the hierarchy of needs which is the order of importance of psychological needs. Chip is interested in his hierarchies and theories, and he tried to apply those ideas to his company. His company started to succeed, but he wanted transformation success, not just to succeed, so that his company could live to their potential. You have to know what the customer wants and give them peak experiences, experiences that will fulfill the customer, will will help the company achieve its potential.
