Never snowboarded? Me neither. Until today. At Camp Fortune….
Hey! A few weeks ago my brother was invited to go snowboarding (or skiing) at Camp Fortune. Me and Rose could come too! We all chose snowboarding because:
- My brother could teach us
- All of my brother’s friends chose that too
- We all wanted to try it!
What? There should be a reason why for, ummmm wait what? Oh yeah, there should be a reason for EVERTHING!!! My parents only wanted to watch because First, Camp Fortune was located at Gatineau. Pretty far from Carling. Secondly, when we got there, we got a pass and our equipment. We went to the easy spot. There wasn’t that much people. My brother taught us how to stop, and stuff like that. Until around our 6th go down, my brother spotted his friends. We continued to go up and down. My brother and his friends went down the hard hill and then in a few minutes he went (with his friends) to the hill (that was steep and tall) that you could go on those machines that are kinda like skylines. At around 12:00 my brother got his lunch because he was staying till 4:00 and we were staying till 1:00. I started getting better at snowboarding! Sometimes I would also fall ZERO times. 🙂 So was my sister. Here are some tips on how to fall and how to snowboard:
- Bend your knees. Not too much, but they help you balence
- Make sure you hands aren’t in your pockets. You’ll need to spread them around to keep your balence.
- Fall on your bum. Trust me, it will make it easier to get up.
- Only attach one leg only to your snowboard if you are a begginer. Then if you have to go up again, you don’t have to take off your foot from the snowboard and attach it again when your up on the mountain.
Trust me, if you use these tips, you will get better. Cause I used these tips and in ONE day, I got very good. And I never even SAW a snowboard ever in my life till this day. (P.S this happened on December 27 2014) When it was 1:00, we gave the equipment back. My sister and I spotted the CTV news! Except they didn’t film us. 😦 We ate our lunch on the car. We had garlic bread and cinnamon bread with rasins. We drank either YOP or apple juice. Then we went directly back home! 😀
It was 10 minutes before the show started. We brought the piano teacher’s daughter with us. It was a pieces, then a sing along. The intermission was also 15 minutes, like the gymnastics dance. Except there was no food to buy. But luckily I had Smarties and Aero in my sweater pocket. So I ate these and they announced that the show was about to start. So I went to my seat. It started, until FINALLY it ended. We brought Amy (the piano teacher’s daughter’s name) home.
P.S you should tell that I was too lazy to write this.
When: Sunday December 14 2014
Where: Ashbury College
Why: Gymnastics Christmas Celebration including dances performed by gymnasts
Big day! It started at 1:30 and ended at 3:30. .The first dance was called Girl power. It was a group of competitive people that are young, and that smile sweetly. They were brave too. Some of them were cute too! We were the 15th group to go. Our song we used was “Santa Claus is com’n 2 town”. We were using the hoop. It was a pretty good dance. Until it was the intermission. I bought a bag of Lays ketchup chips for 50¢. Pretty cheap. Cause the other vending machines and stores that sell a bag of chips are 1.00 or more dollars. I had to share with Rose. I was actually pretty happy to share! Mmmmm, yummy! The last show was a combination of ball, hoop, ribbon, ropes, a see through scarf thingy, those cheer leading things they have on their hands, and yeah. It was a pretty good dance. After the whole show, all the gymnasts had to go on the mat to get a picture. We also got a rose. Mine was pink, Rose’s was purple like she wanted it to be! So the audience took some pictures. Very nice ones. And we went home!

Why: Christmas Party For Drawing Class
Where: Told ya that in the title
Okay, same day as the O’Brien theater movie Christmas Party. I can’t believe that they already have the spirit out! My dad’s company AND the Drawing class. We didn’t participate in that drawing class. The teacher knew my mom and knew that she did very good balloon animals and other stuff. 🙂 So she invited my mom and her family (which includes me! 😀 ) . When we got the the Green Bank Church (right before we entered the parking lot), we saw 2 things/stuff that happened. First thing we noticed, is that a car crashed into an other car BADLY!! Unfortunately, I saw an ambulance which meant someone was hurt. 😦 The second thing was seen by my sister Rose. She saw our kindergarten friend Nancy, who lives very close to our house. My dad told me that she was going to look and see if she agrees to register Nancy to the Drawing class. The teacher showed us a slideshow with Li Zhen Hao included! Li Zhen Hao also went to the O’Brien theater to watch the movie. After the slide show, there was this draw, but my family did not participate in it. Right after the draw we could eat. There was Chips, mini cupcakes, popcorn, drinks, veggie straws, apple slices, orange slices, chocolate, and rice krispies. After eating, we got to make little things out of clay made out of flour. I made a candy cane and helped Rose make her snowman. We painted it, and brought it in the trunck of our car. Before everyone left, we got a pack of chips, and this little calendar you can open each little square and inside there’s a little surprise. 24 slots to open before Christmas. When finally my mom finished the last balloon animal, we went home!
Today was an early celebration of Christmas at the City hall. It was organized by the Mayor Jim Watson. He’s a nice guy. We went with Amy, our piano teacher’s daughter. She’s 8 years old: One year younger than us. We immediately went to my grand-parents apartment to pick them up because if my dad was going to find a parking spot, then it would be only us 3 children. So my dad’s parents would accompany us. We got to City Hall, not even at 2:00 and lots of people were there waiting. I’m pretty sure they were here last year and the line up was VERY long. So they decided to come earlier so they wouldn’t have to wait so long. My dad was like that too. I guess they were right because the line up had to go from the start of the line, to the OTHER side of the room. I felt bad for Faye (my friend) because she was one of the people at the other side of the room. When we were in line, my friend Emily joined us. She said my dad and her dad were waiting in line to get beaver-tails. The first person you could meet was Mrs.Claus. She gave us gingerbread women/girls. (You never know!) Next you could FINALLY meet Santa!!!!!! He gave us Christmas books. Mine was “Finding Christmas”. Emily’s was “A porcupine in a pine tree (a Christmas song of Twelve days of Christmas)”, Amy’s was “Lost in deep snow”and Rose’s was “The night before Christmas”. You know, the Christmas poem. T’was the night before Christmas…… My dad told us to go outside to get some more beaver-tails. That line was long too. So to spend our time, we would take turns going to the “roast a marshmallow” station. Two of us would go roast and eat, and two of us would wait in line. When we ate one marshmallow, we’d have to wait till our partner is done, and we would swap our positions. Until we got bored and waited in line. FINALLY it was our turn to get our beaver-tails. We all ordered lemon. It was delicious. *Slurp**Burp* xD My dad told us it was time to go home. So we each said bye bye and started on our way to home!
Today was the tear 1 girls Borden ball tournament at the Confederation High School. Mr.Hume (the teacher who taught us the game) didn’t want us to waste money on the buses so he insisted that parents drive. My dad volunteered to drive. He used the van. What I know is that Sophie’s mom drove Emilie, Catherine, and her daughter of course. Jillian’s mom drove obviously Jillian, but she also drove the Palmer kids. Laura and Abby. My dad obviously drove me and Rose (my sister), and Emily, Jacklyn, and Adalia. My dad said to put our “garbage” in the trunk. I said back to my dad that this was important stuff and we needed it for school. School supplies aren’t garbage if we don’t put them in the garbage. School supplies are important. If we didn’t have any, school would be hard. We’d have to carry our lunch bags, books, indoor shoes (start of school), etc…. Anyway, when we got to the school, we were to eat a little snack. Because I only had beaver-tails in my lunch, I only ate a little of it. At around 11:00, we had our first game against Meadowlands. We won tie 7-7. First we were in the lead, but then they caught up to a tie. The next game was against Knoxdale. We ended in a tie again. I forgot the score. Sorry. We switched courts to the second one, and against Broadview. OMG they were soooo good. At that point I was pretty sure they were going to win first place. I mean, like the always did. Last year, etc. But next year they are soo going down because Emily is going to gifted class and she’s going to make it in the team and text us what’s there secret!!! The score was 16 (Broadview) and 1 (Woodroffe). At least we scored one goal, I mean, one is better than none. Right? We had our lunch after the game. I ate my beaver-tail and Lily and Jillian were jealous. I shared with Adalia my beaver-tail because she didn’t wine about it. My dad gave me my subway. I was haft done my subway when Mr.Hume announced that we had a game against Briargreen (that was easy peesy score was 16-3 only Briargreen’s 5’s and 6’s scored the 3 goals) and we won against Agincourt 8(us) to 5(them) that put us to silver/2nd. We went back to school and had great fun there too!
